Turkish breakfasts are all about adding "a little, little into the middle" (Turkish saying), meaning you place a variety of side dishes in the center of the table to share. There is no set recipe aside from menemen (an egg dish very similar to shakshuka), but the more abundant your table is the better. Here are some of the things you can add to your breakfast table:
- Menemen
- 1 Tbsp Zeytin Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 Egg
- 2 Tomatoes, Diced
- 1 Cubanelle or Anaheim Pepper (depending on preference for spiciness), Diced
- Black Pepper
- Directions: Heat Zeytin Extra Virgin Olive Oil on pan. Add diced pepper and cook for 5 minutes. Add in diced tomatoes and cook for another 5~7 minutes, until all ingredients are soft and the mixture thickens. Add in the egg and stir together - cook for roughly 2 minutes under low heat. Remove from pan and serve hot.
- Turkish White Cheese or Feta Cheese, Cubed
- Firm Mozzarella Cheese or Turkish Kasar Cheese, Cubed
- Green Olives
